This is also the homepage of the increasingly popular "Swiss Manager". Outstandng coverage of world class events such as olympiads. Lots of sections. Mostly in German, but an fantastic site just the same.

ICC, Serious Chess, Serious Fun!
Just about the best on-line chess site around. It's always full of people willing to play, their server and software is the fastest and they have lots of competitions, live games coverage, simuls and just about any activity you can think of. Recommended!

Absolutely outstanding chess site. Annotated games, interviews, articles, news, reviews... Available both in Russian and English with plenty of contributions by some top GMs.

My favourite chess links site. Why? because the person who runs it has taken the time to visit all the sites in his list and he has done a wonderful job. You won't get rubbish sites in his selection.
Here's an extract of his intro, which is completely honest:
The starting point for this link collection has been that it should be easy to navigate. Therefore I have created different categories and subcategories and sorted the sites in them, which sometimes is difficult. It is not always very easy to categorize a site.
I have commented on every link. You should not have to click through all links in order to see if there is something useful (...).
I forgot to mention: the links are available in 5 languages: Swedish, English, German, Spanish and French. Great job!

The website of the russian player Boris Schipkov (I think his last FIDE rating was 2320). Very interesting content with sections on chess art, philosophy, movies, annotated games, downloads, interviews, old newspapers (with articles from the russian magazine "64" dating back to 1937!!)... all in all, a very interesting site. You can tell this man loves chess, and to me, that usually matters more than anything else.
