Chess Coaching
No matter whether you're a beginner or a high level player, you can now have International Master Javier Gil as your personal chess coach.
Unfortunately, not many strong players have the ability to teach chess. Yes, sure, they are very good over the board, but they lack the know-how, the experience and often the dedication to teach other people. Also, their support is often very poor, and provide no original material (i.e. edited by them). In fact, many don't even have a coaching title!
Javier is a Certified FIDE Trainer (a title awarded by FIDE) with over 15 years of chess teaching experience, not only individual students, but also at schools and chess clubs. Javier's Fide rating is 2455 (national 2505) and he's bilingual (Spanish/English).
Before becoming a chess coach, Javier played professionally for more than 10 years. (Check the games section, menu on the left).
Here's a list of some of the chess coaching services he provides:
Thanks to the advance of internet technologies you can now take chess lessons on-line even if you live thousands of miles away!
Javier has students from Europe, USA and Canada, the UK, Australia, etc.
Javier has a vast experience (over 8 years now) in training players over the internet.
A training plan is worked out, weekly on-line meetings are arranged and you get homework and on-line tests to check whether you've assimilated the knowledge. You also get annotated games and forum support! Learn more about on-line coaching by using the menu on the left.
Some people still prefer private coaching (live,in person). It is true that direct lessons are more intense and can have a completely different impact on the student. Having a coach moving the pieces on a real board is a different learning experience. It is probably easier and quicker for the coach to find your weaknesses. This is also a good alternative when you wish to practice opening variations against your coach.(sparring mode!). Some people also like to combine both, on-line coaching and the ocassional private lesson in person.
Unlike other coaches, Javier offers complete forum support to private students also. This means that you can keep direct contact with the coach after the lesson is over, which is very convenient in order to have ideas explained or get some extra material on a particular topic.

A very good alternative which reduces the prices considerably. Coaching can be arranged for small or large groups. You don't even need a venue, as we can use the Sydney Academy of Chess premises.
Javier works for the "Sydney Academy Of Chess", and he coaches dozens of schools (both private and public) all over Sydney.
Javier's lessons are very popular because of his teaching methods, and many of the schools that he has been to, would like to have him as a permanent coach! (which isn't always possible...). To learn more about Javier's School Coaching, use the menu on the left.
Are players getting a little bored at your club? how about improving motivation by arranging some lectures or even a short course? Javier will travel to your chess club and use the most modern technology for the lectures (not the old demo board!!). You can choose the topics or have the Master choose them, that's entirely up to you.
Would you like to challenge Javier to a simultaneous exhibition against 10, 20, 30, 40 or xx players to catch attention in your area? How about including a blindful chess exhibition? Would you like to challenge I.M. Javier to a match against the strongest player in your club? It can be arranged! Use the menu on the left.
